Best atmosphere for raising a Pitt Bull

Are you considering buying a brand new Pit Bull puppy to bring home to your family? If so then there are a few important items that should be on your puppy-checklist to make sure you will be providing an ideal atmosphere and upbringing for your Pit Bull.

For starters, your checklist should include first and foremost making sure that your home and family is the appropriate type to raise a Pit Bull dog. Unfortunately, there are too many books on the subject where authors tend to persuade you that any breed of dog will be suitable for virtually any home with any type of surroundings. This couldn't be further from the truth, especially for the Pit Bull.

Although the size of the home does not really matter when bringing home a Pit Bull, the age and size of the people living in the home certainly does matter, and should be carefully considered. Since we are on the topic of you bringing home a new Pit Bull puppy then you should know that this breed is an ideal dog for a family that is mostly adult oriented with children that are 13 years of age and older.

Ideally, and this goes for most any breed of dog and not just Pit Bulls, your puppy should have someone at home with him or her as much as possible. There should be someone to take your Pit Bull on regular walks as well as sharing valuable time to train the dog and aid in developing healthy social skills within him.

It is said by the Pit Bull experts that the worst situation at home for a Pit Bull is one where the dog is raised by a person who is very young but then as they get older wind up spending less and less time with the dog. Next that person has children of their own but still own that same Pit Bull. What happens then could potentially be disastrous.

Now we have a situation there are little kids in the home, where there wasn't before, and the adult owner is now so busy with work or other activities that they trust the Pit Bull to be safe around the kids. Because the Pit Bull is not used to little children and cannot relate to them, an accident may happen, and unfortunately it is not the Pit Bull's fault, rather the ignorance of the owner to understand what the needs and ideal situations are for their adult Pit Bull.
